Blitz 27: Mark

posted Apr 23, 2016, 8:10 AM by Dale Cuer

This week we look at the exciting, fast paced Gospel of Mark. Mark introduces the Kingdom of God and then builds on the theme of the authority of Jesus up until the big reveal in chapter 8. From their he shows us what a member of the kingdom of God looks like. We see Jesus as the servant king. So cool!

Blitz 27: Matthew

This week we see how the Gospel of Matthew acts as a transition between the Old Testament and the New. Between the Old covenant and the new. Between the kingdom of Israel and the kingdom of God.

Blitz 27

We are embarking on an adventure thanks to Pastor Jonathan Finley from the Rushford Baptist Church. For the next 27 weeks we are going to read through the new testament together at a pace of 1 book a week. Then each weekend I will preach an overview of that weeks book. I have also challenged the church with the following challenge around reading each weeks book.
A. Primary Challenge:
    1. Pray that God would give you understanding before you read.
    2. Read the book in 1 setting if possible.
    3. Read the book in a different translation than you normally would.
    4. Conference. (Talk to other people about what you are reading)
B. Extra Credit:
    1. Read the book multiple times.
    2. Read the book in multiple translations.
    3. Read the book out loud.
    4. Highlight important passages as you read.
For more information you can listen to the sermons and I am making the PowerPoint outlines available as well.

Prayer Challenge

posted Nov 10, 2015, 9:31 AM by Dale Cuer

We are doing the prayer challenge again this year. I have updated it for 2015. I hope that for some of you this is an easy exercise in prayer. But for those new to prayer I hope that it is attainable and an encouragement. Either way join us as a church as we press in to the Lord Jesus in prayer and pray in the new year.

Sermon notes and questions: "The Foundation for Christian Living" May 8,9 2015.

I thought I would begin with the definitions of the words from this week.
Hope: Confident expectation.
Faith: Belief based on fact that leads to action.
Love: The choice to put the well being of others before yourself.

Small group discussion questions:
Passage: Colossians 1:3-5a
1. Did you find that the Biblical definitions of faith, hope and love to be challenging to you personally? If so discuss how.
2. How did the Biblical definitions of those three words impact your understanding of the passage?
3. Paul used faith, hope and love as an evaluation tool to gauhe the maturity of the churches he served.like Paul use the Biblical definitions of faith, hope and love, to evaluate yourself, your small group and the church. Try to be honest and balanced in your evaluation.

Vacation Bible School

Wow, what a great week we had at this years VBS. We had 75 kids come to our "Polar expedition" VBS. The theme of polar exploration was a great vehicle for conveying some of the Biblical truths of being "In Christ". Our Bible points each day centered around the sentence "In Christ we can overcome...." and each day we added a new truth. We learned that in Christ we can overcome self doubt, lying, bad choices, selfishness and fear. I had a great time as I lead the opening and closing and I stand amazed as always at how god raises up talented people to give of themselves to further His kingdom. Thank you to everyone who was involved in VBS this year. YOU ROCK!

The Bacon Challenge!

posted Jun 18, 2014, 2:30 PM by Dale Cuer

I have been challenged by Sara Prinzi to work bacon into every sermon between June 1 and December 1. That is six months of bacon! I can't just randomly say the word bacon it has to be in context of the sermon. I started the first Sunday in June and have managed so far with one exception. Last weekend I used bacon as a sermon illustration but at the late service Sunday I missed 1/2 of one of my points and of course it was the one with the bacon illustration.  So I only get partial credit for this last weekend.
The reason that I accepted the challenge is that it is an excellent discussion point for people on Monday mornings and an opportunity for people to invite friends to see if I can do it.
So talk to your unchurched friends about the bacon challenge, invite them to church and PRAY for them.

Wow! I need to say a great big thank you to the tech ministry team. They have been busting their backsides getting the church ready for growth, and making it a more comfortable place to worship. They have done an amazing job. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU! You ar awesome! I could spend a long time thanking each individual for their contributions so I wont do that here.  But know that I value each of you greatly. Thanks.
